Hello All!

I found this little white hairy black thing... any ideas?

Aprox 1”

The black portion was lightly covered by the substrate and the hairy bit was on the substrate surface flowing.

It has not moved since its discovery an hour ago.

Are you sure it's alive? It kinda looks like some hair algae stuck to some substrate
It honestly looks like filter floss stuck to something. But I’ve never used filter floss it could be garbage, or something like a weird sea pickle cucumbe? I have no idea.

The hair is white. Stuck to a dark surface. Reminds me of a spaghetti worm.
I think I will pull it out and inspect.

Looks like a Mayfly Larva. When I lived in Florida I used to get them in my tank. They would grow in the Condensate, under the filter lip, or on the back strip. When they dropped into the tank they would quickly die. They will devastate a Brackish or Freshwater Aquarium, though.
