Hi All,

I have had my 45g AIO tank going for about 6 months now and I just can’t seem to get the water crystal clear like I want. I have a filter sock, skimmer, filter floss, carbon, matrix bio media, and a uv light.

I attached a video. Would love to hear what else I can do to make my water clearer.

Thank you!

The video isn’t showing, so it’s hard to tell, but based on how deep the sand bed is and that mp10, could it be sand?

It’s not uploading for some reason. But, I don’t think it is as I’ve turned it off and it still persists. I did move it up a bit though.

Assuming it's not either micro bubbles or a bacterial or algae bloom; you could get a sediment filter and run it in the tank. An add on canister upgrade kit is $33 from BRS and a cheap pump probably shouldn't set you back too far. They are real effective for polishing water.

Not micro bubbles, took care of that problem. It could be an algae bloom, im trying to figure out if im still in the “ugly stage” but it’s been months. I do bi weekly water 25% water changes and it’s still there right after the water change. Is there anything I can do for the algae besides water changes?

Thanks for the note on the canister upgrade, will definitely do that.

If you could throw in a UV it might help.
I'll be the first one to question that hippo tang in a 45 ;)

My tank is filled with particles and I don't consider that bad since I have many filter feeders. Just bear in mind that eliminating particles is purely a want of the reefkeeper, not necessarily a want of the creatures in the tank.
