Recently got a HOB refugium for my 55 gallon tank. It's honestly working wonders. I was curious if anyone knew what these white Specks are. I dosed copepods and some phytoplankton, but that was just a few days ago. Seems too short of a time to grow to this amount. The chaeto is completely covered. Any ideas? Video attached.

Can you syphon some out? If their moving, I'd say copepods. If they settle to the bottom, more likely detritus.

Video worked for me.

Okay nothing to worry about then? If it is detritus any immediate reason to remove or will it sort itself out?

Or did you do any type of dosing? Almost looks like precipitate. But if they move, then pods.

Thanks everyone for the replies! I didn't think about siphoning out to check for movement, and will check as soon as I get home. I'm honestly hoping they are pods, because I'm trying to build up a healthy population for a future mandarin down the road. Until then my Goby should be happy about them.
