White sponge

I bought a coral and there is a white sponge on the side of it and a few heads of a maze coral have died just beside the sponge can it kill it or no ?

Sponges are generally benign. They can sometimes irritate things if they're directly touching, but I wouldn't expect it to cause tissue death to nearby corals. What kind of coral did it come on?

I have a purple sponge that seem to have kill a sps next to it.
Don't really know it did or not. ;)

I would leave a sponge like that, they are harmless filter feeders.
