Who has a cold water setup?

I have an approx 800 gallon/3000ltr cold water setup, absolutely love it. Finally fully cycled and happy, bobtail squid and cuttlefish are next in line. All locally collected, very hard to get good video of it though.

Id like to try a cuttlefish some day maybe. Alien like creatures for sure. Super intelligent as well

Amazing! What sized chiller and pump? What temperature do you run?

It’s currently at 13 degrees Celsius, but that’s room temp. No chiller yet but I’m about to start looking as the weather will warm up soon. Tossing up between cooling the tank or insulating and cooling the garage. Gets to 40 degrees here in summer, It’s a lot of water so I’m not sure a chiller will handle it.

I'm keeping 2 tanks at 57°F with Atlantic species one at the moment, kept many in the past when I lived on the west coast. Collected green/blue Beadlets earlier this year as invasive species in New Jersey and have them reproducing in my tank now.

Not sure what it is with Rich red colors in aqauria for me but Im always looking for them.

Here you go, Waratah anemones are the red ones in the photo below. (They are reported to be predatory to other anemones. Although the green Eastern Sand anemone has not been eaten, or whatever the maroon coloured ones are.)

You might not need a chiller if the area you live doesn't get warm enough.

If the target tank temp is 62F, the room the tank is in would need to be kept below that temperature fairly consistently to avoid using a chiller!

There are super cheapo chillers, but they are not intended for saltwater… the internal heat exchanger is often made of stainless steel, copper, or even aluminum… then there’s the lines and tin soldered fittings…

You need a chiller with a titanium heat sink in a saltwater aquarium application… — these obviously are not cheap!

— as a side note, chillers are merely removing heat from tank water and dumping it into the surrounding room! If adequate room ventilation is not provided; the entire room will slowly heat up, making the chiller less and less efficient!

Lucky enough for you I do have a small coldwater tank mimicking the natural oyster reefs in new jersey's bays/shores. It is not the 10 gallon tank you're looking for, but 30 gallons with a simple hang on back filter. I assume you'll be able to pull off 10 gallons easily so definitely try it out. Here's some pics of my tank, its fairly new about 2 months old! The left is a my invasive beadlet anemone and the right is a shot of the full tank I took a couple weeks ago before the anemone and some other additions. There is currently more Ulva (sea lettuce), rock weed, and oysters I added recently!

Nice! I was down in NJ earlier this year collecting Beadlet anemones for my Coldwater tank :) Was just on Long Island a month or so ago collecting fish for it.

Thats what a lot of them do to keep this species of salamander alive.

how do u get the nems?

They are invasive non native anemones from Europe. They are on almost every rock jetty on the south end of Long Island near Rockaway all the way down the Jersey Shore now. If you go at low tide and look just below and around the Mussel line you'll find them. Search Inaturalist for "Actinia Equina" in those areas to get sightings and locations more specifically :)
