Who has a donkey?

I expect that I’ll get quite a few comments about a girlfriend/boyfriend/ sister/mother-in-law/husband/wife, etc. being said "donkey". But, that’s not what I’m looking for. I’m talking about Equus africanus asinas. The domestic donkey. I have a four year old donkey mare named Collette. I’ve wanted a donkey for most of my life. I mean, if you have horses you should have a donkey. Right? Absolutely! Anyway, she brings a smile to my face every day. She brays when I come or go from the house. She chases the goat and runs through the pasture like a crazy person. She is the GreatestDonkeyEver!

We do not have a Donkey. Yours looks like a pistol and has a personality. No property on our house lot so no room. I do, however, have a back yard I still need to put in at some point (heavy travel year with my job for some dumb reason) which has some wild life such as fence lizards, snakes, and whatever else calls home there. Oh, a baby jack rabbit for some reason.

No Donkey though. Pretty cool and glad it brings such joy. Pets are great!

I have one in a 90 gallon long... He seems stressed:)..... LOL just kidding - a friend of ours raises 'mini donkeys' supposedly completely cute:)

Hahahahaha! You’re the best! And yes.... mini donkeys are adorable. I have a friend that had a male mini donkey. His name was Half-A-Jack. So funny!

Yes they do. I have friends with very expensive show horses. There’s at least two donkeys in every pasture. Donkeys are very territorial and they HATE dogs of any kind.

I had a donkey named Maggie when I was growing up for about 8 years. When my parents divorced they gave her to a petting zoo. As far as I know she lived out her final days there.

On a somewhat related note, well...it is a stretch....but I just finished listening to Two Mules for Sister Sara by Ennio Morricone and that will be the main feature movie tonight after dinner. It's related because, well, she is riding a donkey or a mule which we talk to both in this thread :)

Collette brayed “good morning” a few minutes ago. I can hear fear from inside the house. Maybe I’ll record it a post it. She’s very loud!

Used to have one named Cookie. If you live where there’s coyotes, Mt Lions, snakes, etc they are a must have. Cookie ruled the pasture and no one ever challenged him more then once! One day I’ll get livestock again and a donkey will be the first purchase again, just don’t have the time for the required commitment available with all the traveling I’m doing now.

I have three minis but they stayed at my parents when I moved out. Dezi (Shadow’s Destiny) the smooth one, Lizzie (Elizabeth something lol) the fluffy one and their son Buckwheat the chocolate one.

No donkey but we do have 2 mules. Would definitely have a donkey if we had more room! There are several in our neighborhood that bray alot, some of our friends have some loud mules than can bray but our 2 are pretty quiet.
