Who has filefish?

id love to get one of these guys for my sps tank but heard they "may" nip at stony coral

I know someone who has kept one for years! It's only nipped at SPS once when it was first added, since then it's been good. I'm pretty sure it's the ORA filefish, so if you where to try one that's your best bet (because they are captive bred so they don't instinctively "nip" corals, or at least that's what I've heard).

I've had two bristletails. They're more likely to pester the fleshier LPS corals (trachyphyllias for example), clams and shrimp. Very fun to watch, kind of like a 2D puffer. They absolutely love aptasia and mojanos, so that's a bonus.

Also, mine never actually succeeded in having shrimp for dinner. I had a blood shrimp mysteriously disappear after adding the file, only to resurface years later when I sold the tank. Lastly, the bristletail (or leather jacket) is the one you should get. The others are more behaviorally akin to their puffer cousins.

I believe they're related to triggers but I could be wrong. Also I doubt the ORA are any less likely to pick on corals, it's just what they do

Apparently related to both, and then some... Tetraodontiformes. I learn something new every day (not surprising, with all the empty space on my internal hard drive).
I had no problems with mine, but I definitely agree that the wild caught and captive bred ones will have the same appetites.

I keep one, no problems with sps. It's very well fed and I have kept it for close to two years. I don't think these fish are known for destroying sps if they do nip anyways.
