Just wondering what people think of these colors. I have them on reefbreeder, but currently not using either. I've used them in the past at low levels just not currently.

So, what do they do for corals and the look of corals? Use them early or late in the light cycle, or not at all.

All thoughts welcome.

Thanks!!!

I don’t but some corals don’t react to the blue and only will get a good pop of color with red or another color blended in with the blue.

It enhances reds and greens to the viewer. My flame angel looks crimson when the reds come on and green coral have a little more pop. To be honest I didn’t start using those channels until my tank was matured, almost two years. Red is a potent algae enhancer too.

First....I use them. They improve the reflective chromopigments of coral and fish. There are just as many if not more impressive reflective colors as there are fluorescent colors and I prefer a heavier daylight appearance over the heavy blue appearance. Note....I still provide just as much blue as the super blue tanks get, I just use white red and green also because it just looks better and develops better deeper pigments.

Thanks to all for your comments!

One reason I've had the Red channel off is due to fighting byropsis. Once it's gone I was going to consider added it and the green back.

Just not sure.

Of those here with a photon light, how high do you have the red and green channels set and what time(s) do you have them on?

Thanks again!

I have mine on all day except for a 1 hour rump up down. Mine are at 50% on a 75 gallon predator tank. It has a few soft corals but is about the fish. I am actually trying to match the look of a 240 gallon tank next to it that has 14k MH and T5 lighting.

The MH just came on over the 240, A bit overexposed but you get the idea.
