I’m a genius! (not really). Would you use this for an anemone also? My green bubble tip is small and doesn’t seem to hang on to small pieces is shrimp. I also use reef roids.
I don’t see why an anemone wouldn’t want it. Unless it physically can’t hold on. You could try it

I sift all freeze dried since I DIY my food, the powdered that is left is what I make my "reef Chili" with to spot feed some corals. Close to a 1/3 of some freeze dried will come out as powder, adding some freeze dried brine shrimp to it is great for smaller coral spot feeds.

I feed 4x a day for 1:30 and my phosphates are always zero with a mild hair algae problem I’m slowly winning.

I've also just experienced a nutrient spike and don't know if it is due to a new batch of jerkey. My previous use didn't change the nutients all that much, but I infrequently test, so I don't know for sure. Either way, I've got some nutrient management to do. I mix TDO small and Jerkey.

But... My wrasses seem entirely unimpressed by freeze dried mysis and calanus (I tried the BRS stuff). So I'm not really sure what is the best thing to put in the Plank.

Your ants love it though!

About a year ago I started making my own diy reef jerky after seeing this thread: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/my-diy-freeze-dried-food-recipe.1013697/

buying the individual freeze dried components is significantly cheaper than the premixed reef jerky. Also you could play with the ratios to match your livestock (or leave out certain ingredients all together).

Edit:
This link is where I bought all the freeze dried ingredients. Very happy with the quality! The link is listed on the other thread, but pasted here for convenience: https://www.brineshrimpdirect.com/specialty-fish-food-freeze-dried-fish-food/

I am interested in knowing if the quality of the Brine Shrimp Direct freeze dried food are better than the BRS. I have BRS mysis and BRS calanus and my wrasses completely ignore it. It also never sinks.

A lot of the freeze dried stuff BRS sources from brine shrimp direct and relabels.
So I’ve been using a Plank auto feeder for sometime now and I’ve come across a potential problem with my Reef Jerky that is recommended to use. I’ve had some high spikes in phosphate and was trying to see if I was feeding too much, but then saw when the feeder came on a lot of fine dust came out. Too small for many of the tank inhabitants to eat and kind of just spread around and settles to the bottom. So if you could see the pic how much fine particulate came out of it should I do this all the time and separate? Are those fine particles something that should still be in the tank? Although I don’t think so. Has anyone had the same problem with this? I’m thinking if I do separate like this, I’m losing half of the product

The fine powder is likely the mix of rotifers, algae, brine shrimp (these tend to be powdered instead of chunks like mysis), fine bits of calanus, and any smaller bits of the rest. The idea is this feeds the whole tank vs just fish.

Hmm, that's what I feared. Possible my fish just don't have the taste for freeze dried food. They go nuts for frozen Hikari mysis though.

I'd like to try freeze dried blood worms. Anyone have experience with these in their tanks? Mine is wrasse dominant. CBB on the way, though.

I agree, but I think I just had too much of it. They were fine particles all over the place I think had to do with my phosphates spike. Check the first post it shows a picture of how much I shook out from just a small amount. But all the fish do love the product. I am going to use the recommendation of separating the powder and making my own reef Roids for spot feeding and broadcasting.

I’ve been using the reef jerky powder for spot feeding instead of reef foods for a few months. It works well.
Good to hear. I’m going to start that now. I have a feeling that I’m going to have a lot more powder than I can use. But we’ll see.

Yeah I was really surprised by how much powder is in the bag; disappointing. But I love the plank feeder.
I agree. The Plank is a game changer for me. I use two small digital timers with it. I have the pump go on a little bit before the feeder drops the food and a little bit after. I like doing that rather than leaving the pump on 24 seven as some have told me they do.

One more question about my reef jerky and the sifting of it. Does anyone think I can replace using my reef roids with this sifted reef jerky? It kind of seems like the same type of ingredients but I’m not sure.
