Who's running dc pumps..

Aren't the Jebao DC pumps not to be used externally? I'll have to check again, hit I'm fairly certain the instructions of my Jebao DC3000 says explicitly "Internel Use Only! DC Pump do not suppose for External Use" (spelling and grammar errors included)

They say internal only but I did research before I bought mine and they can be ran externally, I was gonna run mine externally but decided to build a bigger stand and a sump instead

I WAS running a dc5000 by RLSS that died completely at 1.5 years old. No reason whatsoever. The pump
Was totally clean. My Eheim 1262 has been running continuously for over ten years with minimal maintenance every six months. I contacted RLSS and they were pretty much "oh well." After a google search, seems that many of these first gen pumps failed in similar fashion. Cutting the power and plugging them back in will make the impeller spin for a second or two, and then it stops.

I believe the dc5000 had some issues with a thermocouple inside the motor going bad. My jebao12000 stopped working one month after being in service (brand new). I did a bit troubleshooting and found the 12000Mhz crystal oscillator in the controller was bad. Got a hold of a new controller and has been working ever since (8months).

I've had no issues here and would like to buy another DC12000 as a back up. Maybe pick up a few smaller ones for reactors and such but right now I have my DC12000 powering the frag tank, display, and my reactors.

Also using them externally is a hit or miss like others have said, play it safe and keep it inside the sump. It does not heat up in my experience compared to other AC powered pumps such as mags.
