I buy from a very well known seller off ebay and he gets these amazing elegance corals. He has kept them for me for weeks and they grow fine. He has even cut them in half and they are still fine. When I get them however they never last or they just don't ever come out. I have no problems with anything else. I told him the last time he sent me a pic of one that I wouldn't buy any more of them.

I would take the water flow, water quality, and lighting and compare them to the sellers tanks (if possible). Assuming those are similar, maybe something with either the shipping or the acclimation before putting it into your tank?

I agree with waters above....especially acclimation with same salinity. The other issue is if you have clowns and they continually attempt to host, they beat up the coral.

It's the luck of the draw IME. Were all pretty much shooting for the same parameters. Maybe that swing-arm hydrometer reading is exactly what that coral needs... ;)

It appears to be one of them things like in my dads tank pulsing exina dies and in mine it's fine.

I mix our water so paremeters are the same all be it im running more equipment then him but I was always lead to believe exina don't like pristine water.

On the other hand his GSP grows like a weed and mine is slower yet mines a frag of his.

One of life's mysterys haha.

I was told there two types of cat one an Australian the other I can't remember where from but mine the Australian one which is found in shallower water the other type is found in much deaper water so I was informed and tend not to do as well as the Australian ones how true that is I don't know.

The ones that shipped from Indo are usually the ones that don't do good. I am going to try my hand with one sometime, it's definitely my favorite LPS.
