Why can't I keep shrimp???

So I've had 2 fire shrimp in the past and they both not only died without explanation but completely disappeared! Just completely vanished without a trace. It happened twice too! I have absolutely no idea what happened. There is absolutely no way a fish ate them as I have no fish that are even capable of that and I doubt the crabs would have eaten them without me seeing. I'm completely out of ideas and very disappointed because I would like to get a new one but I don't know if he will jut disappear like the others! Any help?

Tank mates? Do you test your parameters? How thoroughly did you search? Acclimation method?

Did you recover the dead body...if not, someone is making a snack. Fish list will help. I was facing the same problem till I caught my flame hawk trying to kill a huge peppermint...took the peppermint in time, which sits in my frag tank now.

The body was not recovered, that's what baffles me. The only fish I had at the time was a fire fish and some hermit crabs.

Probs still in there... I lost one for 13 months... assumed it was dead, then saw it just last week!

Theres also the possibilty of a hitchhiker crab, i currently have 3 in my 350 i need to trap.
