Yes but it also change your alk and others parameters. A bad bag of salt can crash your tank easy.

I did an ATI ICP test december 2019: everything came back normal. Little low on Iodine, manganese, vanadium. Slight elevated level of tin and bromine.

I’m loving zeovit so far, growth and color wise. I’ve been doing the dosing for a little over a month and I’ve had the reactor installed for one week.

I had some issues dismantling my fuge and placing the reactor. It stirred up some nasty stuff that clouded the tank for a few days and CA consumption stopped yet alk consumption tripled. Things are finally back to my normal numbers today and I can turn my doser back on to it’s normal schedule.

I also had to increase the flow on the reactor today, the flow slowed some naturally from when I first installed it last week, probably bio-film. So messing with that stirred up the remaining junk on the bottom of that chamber in my fuge. Partial clouding again. Maybe I should hold off on the doser on second thought.

I dont do wc on my 600g system. Once a week i vacuum the detritus and put back 5g. When your system is good and stable between the cal reactor and dosing my tank has plenty enough replacement trace elements. As far as nutrients skimmer, bacteria and corals will take care of it. So no need for wc.

My plan is to continue to dose Zeobak and SpongePower. I will slowly wean off the NOPOx. Do 5 gallon water change weekly or biweekly. Will test everyday to see how my nutrient level respond. Thank you for all your inputs.

I see a handful of issues with that tank that have nothing to do with bacteria levels. I've helped dozens of reefers over the years and it's hard to help them fix things with all the noise on a forum thread. Too many cooks in the kitchen and the communication and history don't get hashed out enough.

These are the type of people that need one on one help and multiple times of questions and anwsers.

Even though they have a lot of things listed in a thread you have to dig deeper and go through a process that may take a few months. People tend to do the shotgun fix approach and this usually makes things worse.........once they go down that rabbit hole things can spiral out of control.

The pandemic is no patience and lack of understanding of fundamentals of biology and chemistry.
No logical thinking.........cause/effect seldom happen. People just jump right in and get pulled in too many directions by marketing and products that seldom do what they claim especially in short spurts of time.

Please post what u think is wrong so u can help them. Im an old school reefer and the only difference between then and now is live rock vs dry rock. Equipment now a day are far more advance than in the 90 still reefer have a hard time to keep sps. A lot of tankS has nothing to do with patience because they are running for 2 to 3 years. Most post with perfect parameters and on par husbandry. As far as the common diagnosis
1)Whats your parameters
2)what kind of light/light schedule?
3)what kind of pump and flow?
4)keep alk, ca and mag stable
5) ICP test
6)nitrate/phosphate level
7)water change
8)feeding
9)copper/iron over dose aka magnet rust
10)salt
None of these above cant kill sps in a short time may be cause it to lose colors or stop growing.
In the old day we share our trade to help others i only share what i think is the missing link and hope that it will help. At the end of the day i know what make my tank thrive and its the live rock and bacteria source which i added.

I help people all the time and my tank thread is loaded with information I've shared over the years.

If you read that thread you already have seen posts with conflicting suggestions..........if I post I'm Just another reefer that takes on one of those sides. I don't believe that will help that person unless we were to talk one to one specifically without all the other noise. It's the point of my post above.

I have nothing against your thread or your ideas on helping people from that angle but I don't have the same level of conviction that it is a breakthrough or anything new. I've started a tank putting a piece of dry rock in a friends system for seeding for about 4-6 weeks, took it home added dead clean rock I "cooked" and had Acropora in the tank within that week and it was fine.

Every tank is going to take on a certain level of bacterial balance due to how the tank grows and matures, the livestock it carries, and how it's maintained on an everyday basis. I don't believe there is a time where the bacterial levels get messed up.............people mess it up by trying too many in tank experiments or following marketing hype.

I try to look at things more on a cause/effect relationship. Take Hemmdog's recent experiment by going zeo. He also eliminated the algae filter. Whose to say elimination of the algae filter and keeping status quo wouldn't have garnerd the same results or instead he started carbon dosing only..........or went traditional with just a skimmer and GFO. He started zeo and it fits the narrative of this thread but that's it.

If he's happy with the results that's great that he made a change and is benefiting.

Instant ocean, not reef salts just the reg. Nitrates are around 25 if not dosing microbater7

I've used Reef Crystals for years. That brown crud that it leaves in a mixing barrel, contain phosphates. I didn't test for excessive nitrates. Battling cyano on and off for years. I decided to try a new salt. Ran all test, phosphates was 0.26. Mixed new salt in another container, tested 0. This may a nutrient imbalance in some tanks.

This is my post from my tank. I started with 100% dead Reefsaver rock and dead mesoflake sand. I can't figure anything else out why my SPS are dying, so I'm going to give the beneficial bacteria / microfauna a shot. I ordered the Zeobak and Zeostart3, but more importantly I also ordered 15lbs of Live Rock from KP Aquatics that should come this week. I heard great things about them, and hopefully that will serve as a good seeding for the tank. I"ll report back with my findings after a few months. You all think 15lbs is enough to seed it?

my auto feeder feed 8x a days on pellet. When u created a balance ecology feeding heavy doesn't increase nutrients in your tank.

Oh I totally agree. I have some weird turf algae that nothing eats so I was trying to limit its growth. Makes me strongly debate going the fluconazole route to balance things out and then feed heavy.
