So why does every contest or giveaway have to do with Facebook now I realize a lot of advertising goes on with Facebook however with a social media platform like Facebook and all the negativity associated with Facebook it makes you wonder why reef2reef who is a positive social media platform and(actually the only one that I am on) would require you to go on Facebook and "like" the sponsor giving stuff away. Just something to chew on

Yea, I don’t promote the Facebook, instagram or any other social networking promos.. They get absolutely ridiculous some times. Turns into a game of Simon says.
More power to those folks that are willing to play these games.

Facebook didn't really have any major negativity until the previous us election. Frankly I don't really care and honestly this website strays away from being political so I don't really see the issue. If you don't wanna use facebook you don't have to.

My issue with facebook isn't really with facebook its more that people just believe what they read on facebook as "fact"

Agreed. It makes it difficult for those few of us that are not on the social media.
You can just make an account. Heck you could even use a fake email and just turn off notifications. I have a twitter because I wanted to join a giveaway for a pc years ago. Haven't used it since and hasn't negatively impacted me either

Honestly, I completely agree. It’s ridiculous that a positive platform is promoting such negative platforms. I also think it gives those of us who don’t have other social media an unfair disadvantage

Lol, I just think it’s a little funny that the Tapatalk support got dropped due to data sharing concerns, then the next day I got asked to sign in in the web version using Facebook login credentials.

So R2R isn't telling vendors that they have to promote Facebook. One of the reasons for a vendor wanting to like all of their social media accounts is because they all serve a different purpose and everyone uses different platforms.

Let's say for example that I make a thread here, I may not post that same content on Facebook. As a business, you want to grow your business as much as possible. Not everyone in the hobby is in R2R, and not everyone on Facebook is on R2R.

I would never look at it as R2R promoting Facebook, or even say that Facebook is negative. I say just treat everyone like you want to be treated and be professional.

Well said I love treating people the way I want to be treated however there's no mediators on Facebook and I fully understand your angle and R2R position

I'll just say I used to think Facebook was abhorrent. However, I've discovered if you find the right groups (especially local) the people on there are just like everyone else. Mostly good, a few bad apples; some are noobies, some are very experienced / provide solid advice. The guy who runs my local FB group runs around the area helping anyone & everyone he can with their tanks. Just my 2cents.gif ...

Well - it isn't everyone's cup of tea but then again the youth of today can't really seem to put their phones down. Ever go out to dinner and watch a young couple? Enough said.

People follow. Those followed get money or free items. No different than sponsors of a forum, site, build, car, etc. Money talks.

Now let us talk NASDAQ. Look at the top 5 companies one of which this thread discusses. Lots of talk about those 5 and what would happen should something go South. South could be people just up and stop using such sites...

Anyway no. What I do with folks on this site is say thanks for the contents but no thanks for the facebook requirement. Not interested so I don't partake but make sure to let them know. Users of said product I don't judge - to each their own.

I wish the giveaways was directed to the platform the giveaway was posted and seen on. R2R giveaways for R2R users, Facebook giveaways to facebook users, YouTube giveaways to YouTube users, Instagram, Twitter etc. Instead of the typical, Like here, subscribe here, follow here, so on and so on for bonus entries. I get why they do it, I just don't bother with it. Gets to be too much.

LOL we had about 25 friends and family members over for a Birthday party and about 12 of them were between the ages of 15 to 22. After diner they just dropped on the couches and carpet by the TV and started going at it on their phones. I started to observe them carefully and noticed that some would laugh and then another would glare at one of them. I finally went over and asked them if they were seriously texting each other on the phone while they are only 15 feet apart. They embarrassingly said yes ;Meh

ill say you can get some AMAZING deals off coral on FB.

I had it for a couple months but got rid of it.

It was really easy to snipe coral auctions
