I attached two pictures. One from this morning and one just now. I dont know why it has shrunk so significantly. Now, the clownfishes are pulling mucus? Or remainders. I checked my water. Seems like ammonia was a little elevated so i used the AmGuard ammonia emergency and changed 20% of the water. I am freaking out because my othet anemone has shrunk as well. Is it because of the water quality?

Yes could be because of water or it could be pooping. The picture of it shrunk is hard to see. Is he a BTA?

I just snapped photos of them. They both opened up, looking good. Why were they so shrunk up earlier?..

They don’t look good bud. You have to return them if you can. They probably won’t make it in that new of a tank. What salt are you using? What type of lighting do you have? How old is the rock? Is it cycled or new? What are your parameters? What type of flow do you have? What is your temperature?

Yes it is cycled. 78 degrees instant ocean and 12 hours of light every day.

How long have you had your BTAs for?

Anemones go through inflation/deflation cycles where they expel all the water and waste they’ve been storing in their body and then uptake new water. They can go through a few of these cycles in a row when newly introduced, which suggests that they’re stressed and unhealthy — healthy anemones might cycle once every few months or even longer.

What lights are you using? From your photos, your tank looks like it has fairly low lighting.

Ah yeah, that’s not going to be enough to keep it happy and healthy.

What size tank do you have?

1x AI Prime per 2x2 feet of tank would be minimum for a BTA. If you want something more economical, maybe a pair of these for better coverage?

We have a 20 gallons? Do you mean the light is not enough to keep them happy??

Yes, that light is appropriate for a fish only tank.

You won’t be able to keep any light loving coral/anemone with it; the Zooxanthellae (ZooX) algae they contain in their tissue (and have a symbiotic relationship with) needs high levels of light for food.

Edit: Some technical information.

The PAR (Photosynthetically Active Radiation) rating for your light (top of the second column) is 54. BTAs probably require at least 150 PAR.
