Why is DC not an option?

On any of the lists of states for prefixes for titles etc... Washington DC is not an option...

I understand most of the country wants to pretend it doesn’t exist right now, but there’s plenty of reefers here!
 
The reason is simple, Washington DC...not a state. You live in a triad of other states. Why not Virginia? No? How about Maryland. Still no? Just kidding [emoji23][emoji23]


But in reality, if a database is being queried for "States" then it's going to return states and states only. This is the reason you don't see an option for DC.

Just went through the signup process myself and wondered the same. No love for DC.

Plenty of folks around here are quick to point out that Virginia is not a state but a commonwealth, regardless of the technical definition.

Maybe back during the civil war it was a Commonwealth. Lol.
