Why the need for compartments in AIO?

Wondering the reasons for compartments in AIO tanks, micro bubbles can’t be the only reason?

To create a stabil level of water for heaters, protein skimmers, etc. Then a variable level in the return chamber for your ATO.

Was a little worried as my tank I’m getting build doesn’t have compartments, just one big one with the overflow across the full length…so maybe the only issue maybe the skimmer?

Is someone building you an AIO or a tank with a overflow for a sump. Because that would be the only reason you would do it that way. I believe.

Yeah being build it’s an AIO, It’s called an infinity overflow, not sure why they choose to do it this way.

Infinity overflow is synonymous with coast to coast. It goes from one side to the other.

The Point in different sections is to direct flow through different types of filtration media ensuring your water runs across all of them rather than running over the overflow and straight back into the return.

The pic you linked definitely has compartments back there.

Oh wow. Well I guess I’d have to see the tank cause this is new to me. I feel like any all in one needs at least 3 chambers. 1. Filtration, 2. heaters and etc, 3. Return
