Why we use blue

Just I observation I made at work today. This is a pool with a all white bottom, it’s interesting that as you go down the steps to the bottom of the pool, it continues to get more blue. I may be oversimplifying this, but that seems like a good representation of why the corals like a more blue spectrum the deeper you go. Also looks a lot like kessil shimmer!

Try underwater photography. Massive strobes are required. Even with a subject just 3 feet away, the light will travel 3 feet and then have to travel 3 feet back for a total of 6 ft and it's blue. Most coral is more than 6 ft deep :)
