So I found it! @o2manyfish is the owner.

o2manyfish.com

His nice ptz camera is about $2500. For those of us that travel and need to zoom in far, this is the ticket. I'm asking him some questions, but I may end up running a similar setup. He uses a cheaper camera for his frag tank, I'll have to see what the quality of that one is like.

I recommended Eufy. It's like $50+ and it's an IP cam as well so you could stream it live via YouTube if you wanted to. Hooks up to wifi easily, pan, tilt and zoom along with two way audio. Easily accessed thru your phone as well via their app. I've tried like 3 different ones and this hands down is the best I've run across yet.

This one? www.amazon.com/eufy-Security-Assistant-Compatibility-Tracking/dp/B0856W45VL

I don't see where/how you can access it via IP (web) and control the PTZ..?

For what it’s worth, if you are going to set something up like this that is publicly accessible make sure you run it on a segregated network from your main network. I work in the technology field and putting an IP cam with public accessibility on your main network can be a huge security vulnerability. It can be as simple as connecting a separate router for your connected devices and using your main router for your PC’s and phones/tablets. Hope this helps.

I'm a former software engineer/IT geek. I'll put it behind an auth website, all is good. Good warning for everyone else though.

That's it, you can Google all that (that's what I did) and it worked great. I'll be mounting it to my ceiling in the near future, even comes with a mounting plate for a wall or ceiling (upside down configuration).
It looks like you have to access it through their web portal..https://mysecurity.eufylife.com

Unless I'm googling something wrong, I do not want to access via their website/portal, I'd like to access via my own (pi) or one self-hosted in the camera.

Right, so you just access it thru an rtsp url configuration that you configure in the settings area.
