I had a really cool stereo coral arrive today. It was of course labeled the wrong thing so it was a complete gamble that it would be what I hoped. It is and more. Pardon its sad shape. it hasn’t even been out of the box for a couple hours when I got this photo. It’s a stereonephthya but it has different colored polyps on the same branch giving it a patch worked appearance. Those light patched are not white or faded areas they are a pleasant gold/lemon color compared to the purple red. Apparently this (Multi colors on the same branch) is a documented attribute in stereo from Australia (if I am remembering correctly) When it fully expands I’ll get more photos! This was a very nice surprise after spending a hundred bucks on a coral at another place that was also mislabeled as something I wanted and of course when it arrived it was nothing of the sort. The risks of internet buying. Also a nice surprise after having no luck with getting my local guy to try and order more. Anyhow. I’m really excited to see how this one fluffs out.

Looks like this little guy might actually be cromonephthya rather than stereo. One of my other colonies appears it might also be cromo. Not sure. I’m gonna have to get better photos and send them off to someone who knows what they’re looking at

If it’s not it’s a variation of stereo with a different polyp which may be normal from Australia idk.

Sorry for the blurry macro. Took them with a lens on my phone. For some reason they didn’t want to do well. I’ll try again later.
I’m sure it’s stereo though it’s just it’s the fat stalk variety.

Here is a quick shot of the red one. Yeah. I’m not kidding. It’s red. It’s not bright red like dendro but a dark brick/blood red. It had it the roughest in shipping so it lost a few branches. But now it’s fluting again. Hopefully it keeps the color.

Next to the pink Japanese nephthya you can really see the color difference. I also don’t see any gold highlights in the red one like the others. If it has them they’re tiny Like it is in the blue/lavender.
