Wild caught snails

Hey I went to the beach today and saw a bunch of little snails on a rock and thought to myself why not? Can someone id them to see if they're safe

Good Morning Charlie, where did You collect these? Are they mostly black & real small?

They are probably used to cooler water and will not last in reef aquarium temps. The may also be intertidal and escape.
I made the mistake of trying this from taking wild snails (California) and it was for sure too warm and they spent most of the time out of the water. I felt really badly

Just FYI collecting marine life without an SCP in California is very illegal, I would return them if I were you. Plus they are coldwater and WON'T live in your tank. I do have a field guide and I might be able to ID if you're still interested

Haha when I got them they climbed out of the bucket so I ended up tossing them back
