unfortunately my tank got infected from not QTing a fish and all my fish died. leason learned. Going fallow for 76 days. I still have 5 coral, 1 peppermint shrimp, 2 snails, and some hermits. would turning off skimmer allow my chaeto to handle filtration and be sufficient? just wanna see my chaeto grow honestly because right before this happens I ordered a kessil H80 lol I have miracle mud as substrate , live rock, calcified coral in a bridge structure with an air stone underneath

55 gallon DT
25 gallon sump

So long as there is phosphate , nitrates , and par it will grow. You will still need to feed your tank even while fallow . Got to feed your bacteria colonies to maintain them when you do re introduce fish back into your system. Also, re introduce fish back slowly as well. Your tank needs to re learn your bioload .

You obviously won’t need to feed a whole lot . just enough to feed the cuc and the detritus from that for the bacteria.
