Probably, depending on the height above the water. I actually use a Kessil H150 to grow my Chaetomorpha:

If you can find a used one, this thing grows macroalgae like crazy.

I'm looking for something little bit more low profile. I would put it about 6 inches above the water line.

My fuge is only 10"x10" and I don't want any light spilling over into the skimmer section or the return section due to algae growth.

I have light spilling into the skimmer section, but the only thing that grows in there is coralline algae. With the Chaetomorpha directly under the light, it out-competes other, lower-light areas in the sump. Consequently, I don't have much issue with micro or macroalgae growth in the other sump chambers.

I'm using a Home Depot clamp on light right now which works great It's just a little bulky under my tank. I might give the light you show a try. Thanks for the help

The one A80 is for a planted tank didn't know if that would be any better.

The problem with it freshwater/planted
Just a suggestion...

Email and call Kessil.
I always get great, over the phone support from them. They will (Happily) tell you if a80 sun will do the job. :)

BRS just put out video on tests they are doing to so what lights do the best. Their first test showed the Kessil grow light to be the best, but also the most expensive. Cheato grow very rapidly and consumed almost all the nutrients they added. Very good video.
