Hey guys, probably a dumb question coming. But, we've had an infestation of amphipods in our 20g. We have caught them actively eating our zoas, or at least messing with them so much until the 2 zoa frags we had disappeared.

Were wanting to take our Halloween and hermit crabs from this tank and put them in our new 75g. The dumb question...... Will pods get in these active hermit shells and then transfer to the 75, or would they likely stay clear of trying to live in shells?

I'd hate to move the crabs and introduce the amphipods to the 75.

Well soon be making this 20 our qt tank, and moving its inhabitants to a 40g breeder. I'm gonna do a freshwater dip of the live rock, and dip the corals in some dip to rid them of the pods before putting them in the 40.

Thanks!

What fish do you have that these are getting this number?

Just a small pair of clowns, and a white line combtooth blenny. We had a royal gramma as well, but it was picking on the blenny so it got moved to the 75.

Also a blood red shrimp who is pretty shy.

I think keeping them out of the 75g is going to be futile unless you go really hardcore with the medications and dips. A couple of invisibly tiny eggs is all it takes.

On the other hand, 75g should be big enough to just put some wrasse or something in that eats them
