Will this hold 29g tank?

Looking for a stand (more of a shelf with storage space) for a 29g tank. I’m not concerned with the weight of the tank, more so the stand itself and the particle board shelves? Can I waterproof the particle board and use it? Should I replace the particle board with sealed plywood? Picture and link below. Thanks in advance!

I'd definitely replace the partical board with sealed plywood. I used one of those to make my rabbit a hutch and his water bottle dripping on the board caused it to warp and i had to replace and that was just a drop here and there.

29 gallon tank plus contents, less than 400 lbs.
If you believe the specs on that shelving unit each shelf can hold 1800 lbs.
Don't know if that's true, but 29 g aquarium is probably OK.
Make sure you assemble entirely, even if you're not using the lower shelf since it is structural.
Maybe isolate the particle board with a sheet of 1/8" plastic.

Any idea what the rabbit hutch and contents weighed?

I would just coat the particle board with epoxy (or some kind of clear coat) and call it a day. Most cheap commercial fish tank stands are made out of particle board (horrible design but it's pretty common)

I’m estimating under 300 lbs; around 20g of actual water (175ish lbs) 30 lbs of rock, a heater and powerhead plus the tank itself. No sand or other equipment. Would you agree?

I didn't use it to hold a hutch I just put boards on the outside to make a hutch, it's the four shelf model. It contains mainly the rabbit on the upper shelf that wore out, he weighs 7.5lbs. it was the occasional drip of water that did it tho

I have two 40 breeders on this type of shelf. You should swap the partical board as said above. If it gets wet it will swell and crumble

A particleboard stand came with my used 90g set up. It was in pretty bad shape. I was shocked when I was looking for a new one and saw that a lot of stands are made with particle board.

Ahh I misread the original reply; thanks for the clarification. That’s a pretty creative idea! Side note: my grandma had that chair and matching couch since forever and she REFUSED to get a new one until recently. The inside cushions were literally crumbling because they were so dried out. She would be so jealous knowing someone still has this chair!!

Sounds more accurate than less than 400 lbs.
Either way you still have a half ton before you need to worry.

replace the top w plywood for sure,don't see center brace,will cup if particle board :)
