I have a colony of zoas on a frag plug buried underneath the sandbed. Its looking like the zoas are extending onto the sandbed, but im not totally sure if thats the case. For reference, I would like the sandbed to become populated with zoas. Will they do as such, or will I need to provide the zoas with a rock to colonize instead?

People have had zoas grow on coarser/larger grain sand. My sand is always being turn over by my goby so I have never seen this in my tank.

I have crushed coral skeletons for them to spread. And I don’t see mine actually grow toward sandbed unless there’s large sand particles that they can grab on.
