Wilsoni on sand or rock?

For anybody with experience with Wilsonis, I have a frag that I've had for awhile. It's on a large plug but now about to grow off. Do you let yours grow on the sand? Or should I mount it to some rock on the sand bed or maybe a frag tile?

Sand but I do have some on the rock

I would remove the plug and put on sand

All my wilsoni were on discs and not plugs. 2 were glued w the disc onto some rubble for some elevation but don’t think it’s necessary.

How long have you had it.
I've got 1 frag, single head, but wont grow .. its been 3 yrs
