Woke up to disaster...

Gawd I feel like crying, woke up to a flooded floor I've checked the tank no leaks there, no leaks in my overflow or return lines so it appears my "new" sump is leaking at the seams, just the way I wanted to spend my fourth.

I feel your pain. I was adding Phosphate Rx to my sump last night, using a gallon jug and dripping it through some airline tubing into a filter sock. My setup is on the second floor, over the garage. My son came home and said there is water dripping from the ceiling in the garage. The tubing had fallen out of the clip I was using and was discharging on my office floor. Thankfully I only dumped about a 1/2 gallon or so. Hope you are back up and running soon!

Man not a good way to wake up but at least it’s your sump not your display. What brand sump was it? Hopefully the manufacturer replaces it and possibly helps with your water damage.

it could be worse with leaking seams on the DT. at least a leaky sump doesn't effect the water level inside the DT.

Thanks to all of you, you have raised my spirit! My LS were not affected but now I'm baffled, I've tore the sump down and can't find where it is leaking everywhere from the base to the top is dry so if it's leaking it's the seam on the bottom. Going back to investigate further but thank you all!

Really bad but try to think it could be worse. It could have caused an electrical fire and you would have lost the tank or your whole house or maybe even the unthinkable. If you really imagine that you’ll be thankful it’s just water. Best of luck

Sorry to hear about this. Make sure you go over your plumbing really well too. If it's a new sump maybe one of the joints isn't fully seated, or its leaking through some threads etc.

Drain the sump and water out of the display until it’s an inch under the overflow baffles. Point a powerhead towards the surface to increase gas exchange and put your heater into the display. Get yourself a can of “dust off”, weld-on #4 and an applicator. If you have to order it, having the tank like this for a few days won’t hurt your critters so don’t worry. You can manually dose alk/cal/mg if needed. Blast the water residue out of the seams with the dust off, wait 10 minutes for any residuals in the dust off to evaporate, apply the weldon on every seam in that was under water, give it two hours to cure, refill and you’ll be good to go.

Update: What a morning! 1st off the disaster looked a lot worse than what it was, I only lost about a gal. and a half but on out green carpet it soaked up about a 12 sq. ft. area. I don't think the sump is leaking I believe it may have been my plumbing, I had put on a ball valve a few days ago on the return and noticed that after I clamped both sides I had some leakage due to the diameter of the hose but it was over the sump so no big deal, I thought, today I found out those drips would turn to a spray with the slightest movement so I think it was spraying out the sump, so a quick run to HD for a 5/8 hose tore all of my plumbing down made sure everything was tightly fitted and now she's back up and running. If there's a leak it's extremely slow. Thank you all for the pump up I needed it and have a great 4th of July!
