I keep looking at the blue giganteas and get to thinking about a dedicated tank for them and a clutch of clowns. I can't turn away when a good video pops up on YouTube ;Shamefullyembarrased

Those with experience - what to do? It's basically a given they will eventually eat your algae eater / worker fish right? What do you use to keep your rocks clean other than the obvious two handed caretaker approach?

It's always a risk that they will get eaten. The tentacle sting of a gigantea is crazy and you have to rip tentacles off to remove. Most people don't find giganteas eating fish as often compared to other carpets like haddoni. Try to keep some moon lights on where your fish don't get spooked (like sudden lights on).

Gigs will eat snails and hermits. I am constantly finding empty shells and keep replacing them. I've never had issues with filefish, and mine takes are of nusiance anemones but doesn't pick at the gigs.. However, I don't recommend any fish without swim bladders like hawkfish and blennies. They did eat my healthy copperband as well. I try to keep lots of seagrasses and macroalgae to out compete other types of algae. Unfortunately, my tank is also full of bubble algae.

I have a really large purple in my tank...doesnt eat anybody..lots of fish and a couple clowns. no worries here

7 gigs, 2 BTAs, and 1 mini maxi.... I’ve never seen the filefish pick at any of them.
