I've had my pair of perculas for 16 years. They tend eggs almost once a month. I thought I was going to loose the male about a month ago. I removed their home mushroom rock during a reaquascape a month ago. The female did not like that and bullied the male for a few days. She finally settled down and recently both have been sleeping in my frammer at night.

I have a pair of Darwin and a snowflake and they have been together for seven years. They have been in three tank upgrades and a house move. They started in 29 gal bio cube anemone tank (bubble tip) and was moved to 40 breeder with other fish and an LTA. Since the move 5 years ago they stopped laying eggs. Late last year I decided to add Haddonis in my tank and they love it. Since then I added maybe 12 or 13 juvenile clowns and they are doing good.

Is it safe to go back in the water?
No, and furthermore I don't know where they come from. It seems highly unlikely that they evolved naturally into what they are now - impossible, given what we know about evolution. Perhaps they are some kind of bioweapon, created millennia ago by madmen for some long-forgotten war. If so, I suspect that their creators soon came to regret their creation.

Ive got 3 clowns! In my 32 biocube I have a Domino and frostbite clown pair, they are waiting for my bigger tank to complete its fallow period. They are super chill. I then have a maroon female about 3 inches in a tank by herself. Shes very chill and not shy in the slightest. Looking into getting her a male when I put together my predator tank!

My pair is a cross species pair. A wild caught Onyx Percula and a Tank raised Black Snowflake. They are doing very well in my small Gigantea, which is the natural host for both species.

I have had this pair of False Perculas, the male is a misbar, since they were both an inch or less. Both were in my 120 for over 2 years. They never had a host.
I took the 120 down and put them in my 30g remote thats connected to the now 80g.

After a few months I came across this anemone that came from a guys system where it lived for 6 years.
I removed a file fish, 6 line, chromis, and goby.
They have the whole tank now.
24x20x18 with a 3" sandbed.
The clowns are happy and just laid their second round of eggs. They are stuck to the coralline encrusted wall.
I dont remember the nems name.
In my 45 frag system I have a 6 year old clown whos host is a large frogspawn. The frogspawn is older than the clown.

Still crazy as usual…

Welcome to the forum!

I have a pair of occelaris clowns - the female is a mocha (the infamous Luxo) and the male (Sharkbait) is a Darwin (who recently went full black).
Originally the pair hosted an indo torch, but have moved to a BTA when I removed the torch. Ever since putting the torch back, they have stayed with the BTA.
My male couldn’t care less about the other fish, but Luxo is pure evil. Back when I kept her in a 13.5 gallon tank, she killed her first mate, a firefish, and a royal gramma, she also made sure my aurora goby wouldn’t leave its cave. Ever since moving her to a 40B, she hasn’t killed yet but is still very territorial. Generally if the other fish stay out of the way (goby, kamohara blenny, coral beauty angel) then they will be fine, but my angel doesn’t understand boundaries so they get into arguments pretty frequently. So far it hasn’t gotten bad enough where I need to intervene. She also doesn’t like certain corals near the nem - she completely tore apart an anacropora colony because it was within a few inches of the BTA. Lastly, she doesn’t like my hand too much…
Feeding consists mainly of NLS marine pellets, mysis shrimp, and occasionally LRS nano frenzy and brine shrimp. All fish also have free range over the pods in the tank. I’ll feed 1-2 times a day, morning and night. Generally clowns aren’t very picky.
I have some of the meaner clowns - most will be more mellow aggression-wise (the orange and white morphs seem to be less aggressive). A large enough tank (over 30 gallons) helps to ensure they have enough territory to calm aggression down.
Great info! Love the legacy of Luxo lol

What species are yours?

I have a Darwin, and what was advertised as a Platinum but I believe it to be more of a black storm. It's basically entirely white with black tail, fins, and black lips. Beautiful girl she is. I will try to get pictures when I am home from work.

Are yours solo, in a pair, harem?

Mine are currently paired. It took a while to get them paired, but eventually we had success. They swim together, eat together, share the same anemone, but sometimes sleep separately.

Do yours host an anemone? If so, what kind of anemone?

Yes! They live in a rose bubbletip anemone that is way too small for them, but they're gentle with it. It's funny watching the female nuzzle it when it's bigger than the anemone itself lol.

Are they bullies to your other fish? If so, what type of fish?

Not even a little bit. They're actually really docile. I can pretty much grab them with my hands and they won't be bothered, they're very inquisitive and I think I got really lucky. Even near the anemone I could stroke one if I really wanted to, like a dog. Sometimes, my Goby forgets that his territory is not the entire dang tank and nips at the clowns, they just sit there and take it until he gets bored, so he can't be doing any real damage.

Feeding routine?

I try to feed twice a day a mixed diet, I feed once frozen mysis mixed with nyos goldpods and sometimes change this to brine shrimp every few days. Then for the second feed of the day I will feed pellet food that they seem to love. They also pick at the algae from the rocks and I think they do this to actually tell me they're hungry, almost like theyre being dramatic saying "dad im so hungry im eating this algae please feed me"

I love them to bits.
Wow that’s amazing how docile yours are! Thanks for sharing

Meet McFlurry, my flurry/snowflake clownfish.
She is solo.
She doesn’t have an anemone but loves to hang out on my zoas.
She’s my only fish but if very peaceful with all my inverts.
I feed her twice a day, frozen brine shrimp and Piscine flake on the morning and frozen mysis at night. 4B0A73C7-225E-4687-B67E-81E861834167.jpeg

She is gorgeous! Where did you get her?
I got her on Craigslist. The previous owner had her in a shallow frag tank with 2 other clowns. She was extremely aggressive toward the other fish and the owner. I paid $40 for her! She’s very friendly and docile in my tank.

I have 2 paired Ocellaris clownfish, I purchased them as tiny, just under an inch long from a LFS. they weren't hosting anything at the time.
I had a BTA in my aquarium already when I brought them home, the clowns had zero desire to host the anemone and wanted to host my leather coral.
after showing them a video of clownfish hosting an anemone they took to it in about 3-4 days and have never left it.
I ran into issues with the anemone and it passed away, I purchased a new one about a month later and the clowns took to it immediately, the anemone has split 5 times now and the clowns host each of them, which is nice to see and it allows the clowns to actually move and see different areas.
****lots of pictures lol****

I have a pair that were sold as "midnight snowflake clowns". They are named John F and Jackie O. They have a flame Hawkfish (Simone) and Melanarus Wrasse (malachi) as tank mates. They tend to host a rainbow bubble tip every night into the morning. Prior to to getting the bubble tip they destroyed several really nice hammers (almost got rid of them).

I have a pair of Ocellaris.
Wally Marie is my first fish ever and the reason I have a tank in the first place. She is the queen and owner of the tank. And I love her.
Maximo Antonio aka Maxy, is her hubby. He came a bit later as the first mate passed (the store sold it to me already sick and I lost that battle). They liked each other right away.

They have a Green BTA. It took Wally 3 months to find her anemone, but once she found it she never looked back! Maxy is still not allowed in the anemone, so he swims on top of it longingly.

One day I brought home 3 gorgeous red firefish and she almost killed them all in 30 mins. I put her in jail but it didn't work, so the firefish went back to the store... other than that, they get along great with her other tank mates, a longnose hawkfish, a midas blenny and a banggai cardinal.

They eat a combination of PE mysis, spirulina, brine twice per day. And they eat algae pellets to avoid constipation.
