Xenia falling apart?

I had a pulsing Xenia come in the mail yesterday from a frag pack. All but a couple polyps have fallen off and they are stringy looking. Could I save it if so how ? Will post a pic later. (Btw I did do all the acclimation steps).

If you have no phosphates or nitrates they will not survive, they like dirty tanks. That said. I have to constantly clip mine back or they would take over my whole tank.. I have 26 fish and I struggle to keep phosphates below .1 ppm. If your tank is really clean they may not survive.

The other thing is I got a rock from a friend that was in my tank for a year. All of a sudden Xenia appeared out of nowhere on the rock. I asked my friend what is going on. He said he had killed all the xenia on the rock with kalk paste a couple years ago.. It rehydrated and grew back out of dead tissues over a 2 year period... I never had anything else ever come in with xenia on it. Now I struggle to control it.

I would put it in and see after a couple weeks if it starts growing. It's highly resilient if there's enough waste in the water.

I think they sent you a dead Xenia.

I wandered that but I looked at other threads and they indicated that it’s just stressed from shipping.

Xenia doesn’t really die, just stop for a while lol.
If you put it in the proper conditions (medium high flow and light), it should bounce back. Even when my Xenia looked it’s worst, very few actually died for good. A lot of time it starts to shrivel and wilt before spreading.

I switched the light to Mainly white to see clearer. As you probably can tell from the first pic there’s only like one it two polyps still attached the other pic is some of the loos ones laying around. I haven’t removed them just in case I can reattach them to a piece of rock or something.

With Xenia, anything is possible. If it continues to deteriorate it probably won’t come back, but if it doesn’t get any worse I wouldn’t be surprised to see it make a comeback, that stuff is practically indestructible.

Following this! I JUST received my pulsing xenia today, and same thing: limp, stringy, little black things ( not bugs, look like pellets???) in the bags. I was waiting for FedEx, so no porch time, and am drip acclimating as I type. Is this normal?!?

Floppy and gray is just how it looks stressed.
Not sure what the black stuff is, I would just remove as much as possible of it.

Place it under heavy blue light and low to moderate water flow. These are tough and it CAN bounce back
