Does anyone have any pictures of Xenia vs SPS? I have kept them before but never where they were close enough to touch.

How was it for anyone keeping them together? Who won and who lost?

Thanks
Zane

I have some on the same rock. They live happily together. So far, the gsp has respected the Xenia's territory. I also have found that my Pumpkin Patch mushrooms keep gsp at bay as well.

I love xeina but it can quickly become a problem in any tank.. even though I know better I put a small piece in my last reef and in about 3 months I was frantically trying to remove it, it can be very invasive...

I quite like Xenia and have kept it in my tank for quite a few years BUT I have never had it go ballistic in my tank.

I’m asking because I had a tank crash recently that wiped out all my SPS pretty much leaving some Xenia as the only thing in my tank.

I am more than a little tempted to encourage the Xenia to grow out a bit so I have some more life in the tank and add a few sps frags sometime later.

I have no idea if Xenia is capable of killing SPS hence this thread.

I had it go ballistic and kill a lot of my acroporas. It WILL win against them.

If your talking about the common "pulsing" type? Then they can live side by side with SPS. The only problem you could run into is from shading near or around the base. Flow in my tank is very high so the Xenia doesn't get too long, but still all over the corals constantly and does not harm them. Just gets really annoying pulling it out. It will take over everything if you let it.

Here's an older pic of the battle.

Thank you everyone. I just wanted to confirm with others that Xenia will not directly damage other corals. Thanks for all your input.
