I've had my xenias for a bit now. They've done okay, but not the fastest growth for Xenia standard. However, recently I had a crab hide in it which destroyed the polyps. I thought it would heal, but it just got worse, alot of it's polyps are gone. I moved it to the sump where I have a frogfish so my nitrates are higher there, I heard they like that. My display tank is tested for 1 ppm.

Just give them time. My Xenia covers 1/2 of my 40 gal. They are pretty good survivors. Just make sure it has good light and all should be well. Before you know it you will be dreading trimming days. Haha. Also your Xenia could be different then others so don’t over think the growth rate just yet.

My Xenia is the slowest in the tank to recover. However...it drops babies like crazy.

With respect to trace minerals, iodine is important to Xenia. Both activated carbon & protein skimmers remove iodine from water. If you are nor replacing iodine with water changes, then you should dose it.

Mine like moderate water flow, medium light.
Additives- trace elements, iron and iodine. Iodine is strong so just a couple of drops 2x per week
