XR30 G4 - Need Lighting Schedule (SPS Build)

Does anyone have a good lighting program for the XR30 G4? I’m using the prebuilt AB+ but just don’t like it, and I’m getting a decent amount of algae popping up.

I realize the algae could be because of my system, but No3: 13.4ppm. Po4: 0.09ppm. So nutrients aren’t deathly high. The hair algae is growing pretty rapidly too in spots System is almost 1 year old, which is still young, but I’m curious if maybe it’s my lighting program feeding the nuisance algae.

Anyway, if someone has an awesome SPS program, please share!!

Your water parameter just double check !! Do you often keep changing the water? If not maybe you should. Don't feed too much. If there's extra food, just sending to me. I need it. I'm disturbed.. joke check your equipment. There might be something wrong, improper lightning, or ser a new output. Salinity and alkalinity are very important you should check

I don’t over feed. I’m feeding once a day, sometimes twice a day. Typically feed half a cube and don’t let much sit in my water column.Salinity is steady at 35ppt. Alk is steady at 8.5-9dkh. These are both checked at least twice a week. Alk was daily when I had my Trident running.

Lighting is at 45%. I bumped it up to 55% and it seemed the GHA started to grow even quicker, so bumped it back down. I think the issue is the spectrum. I know some people dislike the UV due to it’s increase in nuisance algae growth.

I’m after a custom schedule, if anyone has one.

Did you use live rock or dry rock and if dry, man-made or ancient coral (marcos or dead live)?
I use A+B+white (WWC you can find on their website).
If you are using dry/ man- made, no lighting schedules will help, you are just going to have to go thru it.

I used a mix of both. Majority of my rock was from an old tank that sat for 12 years.
Added maybe 10lbs of Marco rock.

I realize a part of the issue is the age of my tank, just wanting to make sure I’m doing everything to help.

This is a silly question but do I have to login from a computer to download their lighting program? Or can it be accessed via mobile?

Changing your light schedule will not help with algae.. if corals can grow then algae can grow! These super blue tanks you just don’t see it lol! White lighting has zero effect on algae growth!

Start w ab plus then play with what your eyes prefer. Ab plus grows coral, so start there

White light has 0 affect on algae growth? Old time reefers hung home depot white spot lights in their sumps above their fuge to grow algae like weeds.

I run a 12 hour schedule with a 30 min ramp on both ends. I use max 100% on all channels except red and green (keep them at 15%), for 6 hours a day, cutting the white/green/red channels down to 5% for the remaining 6 hours. I like a real intense photo period when i'm at work, and then a nice blue spectrm when i'm home viewing it.

My current intensity is at 55% and i get about 350par peak on the majority of my rock, and about 150 par on my sand bed.

White lighting having no affect on algae growth is a crazy take. I'm sorry but I've had a ton of success early on but cutting out ALL spectrum of lighting, except blues, to help combat against algae. The nuisance algae quickly died off after a week of cutting UV, white, purple, green from my spectrum. I was only using blues to help feed the algae in the coral (zooxanthellae).

Seems like a personal anecdote more than a fact. Could be a number of factors that contributed to your nuisance algae dying quickly besides only using blue spectrum

It’s possible! Not sure what could have tho. I was feeding relatively heavy at the time too. Maybe just the tank maturing?
