Those damsels are not reef safe.

So if your to go reef then they need to go.

They are just big bullies, and get worse as they get older.

Not sure where you heard they aren’t reef safe but that’s false.

I've kept yellow tails with corals without issues before. I've never heard they're not reef safe :S

I would personally take the damsels out and either pass them onto a local reefer or ask the LFS for store credit for them. Who knows, your wife may find a fish more suitable that she likes even better for exchange for the damsels :)

Yellow tails are sort of reef safe towards coral, it's just you have to trash your tank trying to catch em when the bully everything else ;)

Unfortunately I had to get rid of my damsels, they just wouldn't leave the firefish alone, I caught them and out them in a quarantine tank and thought about putting them back in and realized that I didn't want to have to catch them again so I took them back to my lfs for a credit and got a clown fish

Clowns are also a damsel, and can bully other fish, some breeds are better that others maroon being the worst I believe.

People should check out the Similar Damselfish. They look like yelow tail but are much better with tank mates. I have 3 and they are some of the most well behaved Fish I have.
I infact added 3 of them at start and for good 3 weeks they were there alone. Even after adding the rest of the fish they only went after my lyretail damsel a bit and that also stoped once the clown fish were added. No fighting now except get chased away by my clowns. Even the clown smaller than them chase them away.
They also like to dig the sand bed and make caves for them to hide near rocks.
