Yet another plumbing related question...

So, I just installed the ice maker in my new freezer. The water supply is connected via copper tubing from a saddle valve to the refrigerator.

I'm thinking I'd like to install filtration to the ice maker (whats the point in drinking filtered water with unfiltered ice cubes?).

I would like to remove the copper tubing that supplies the ice maker and replace it with the RODI tubing available on BRS. Then I can get a media add on canister, install it in line and fill it with Granular Activated Charcoal.

But can I use the existing saddle valve?

i' m no fan of saddle valves...but i swear the john guest push to connect fittings will work on either 1/4 copper or plastic...so i'd just leave a short stub of 1/4 copper off the existing valve and use a 1/4 double female push on off that to convert to plastic
