I ran Florida Crushed Coral before COVID. It was a great media, but it was super dirty. Definitely required several rinses before I could dump it in. I'm curious what others are using and if there's a better choice that's cleaner?

I’ve kind of moved away from using media. I keep a filter sponge in one of the chambers usually. Now I just use a poly pad or a little carbon. Tried to stay away from GFO since it seems it does more harm than good.

I could help but to chuckle and see how long it would go.

Anybody have a media you’re really impressed with.?!

I normally use TLF in both chambers, but with the shortage I was forced to change. We actually had Julian speak at our zoom club meeting a few monthe ago and that was the big question...when? He said soon, but for me that time has past and I’ve heard stories of the new media when available was dirty. So to answer your question I’m using the TLF smaller grain size in the first chamber with the booster pump flowing into it to avoid any clogging issues from the smaller size and I’m using ARM course in the second. The ARM, even after a rinse is still a little cloudy, but this media has worked well for me.

Thx for your input. Yeah, I’d be shocked if the old TLF came back.
