I have a PhD from a Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology Department, but my thesis work was predominantly biochemistry and biophysics. I quit research to take a position as head diaper changer and snack preparation for 2 kids. Pay is lousey, but the benefits are priceless!

Now that the kids are getting a little bigger I am starting an aquarium maintenance business to bring in a little extra cashflow.

I am a Senior Operations Specialist for a top 10 ranked national Environmental/Water/Wastewater engineering firm. My responsibilites are Project Manager and Construction Manager on new water and wastewater treatment plants and water production, storage and distribution facilities. I do start up testing, commissioning services then train the operators in the new facilities. My projects are mostly in AZ but I have done projects in So. CA and NV too. They range from conventional treatment, biologically active monomedia deep bed carbon, dissolved air flotation to membrane treatment, ozone, UV, chlorine dioxide, gaseous chlorine and chloramines.
In my prior life I was the Operations Manager for a medium to large sized private water utility, Supervisor of a large Municipal water department and started out as a well driller and then pump contractor so water and wastewater have been my sole profession for 38 years now.

Gosh, we have some interesting jobs here!

Current and ongoing job: freelance illustrator, mostly natural science interpretation. BS in Biology and BA in Illustration. Museums, magazines, some children's books, etc.

First job: driving monorail trains in Lion Country Safari and "doing the talk" about the animals.

Last job: parts manager for North America for a light aircraft company.
Next job: ???? :wink:

Worked in marketing and engineering for large SE utility company for 26 years. I fell short of my Business degree because of pregnancy and never went back or regretted it. Retired last March because of Psoriatic Arthritis. Now I get to devote my time to my family (which I have always longed to do) and play in water in a glass tank whenever I feel like it!
