So I was watching this video of the sailboat adventure couple in the Caribbean, names the BVI, and they posted videos of them diving in the reef there. These are my screen grabs from the video:


Clearly not the Caribbean or Atlantic.
Let me know if you agree. I called them out on using stock footage for their dive but they denied it and said it was the Virgin islands. Am I wrong or have we discovered something amazing here?

Hmm. It certainly doesn't look like it. Top photo has what looks like Acropora samoensis, which does not reside in the Atlantic. I could be wrong though.

I was thinking that or humulus...Maybe not compact enough and the soft coral is sarcophytum, both clearly not of the Caribbean. They only have two species of Acropora , A. cervicornis and A. palmetto (may be misspelled) and no soft corals that resemble they type we keep except gorgonians.
They did come back and reply they may have confused the footage with a Red Sea dive...That sounds more like it and better than their first reply that they have never been to Pacific but you were in the Red Sea...

Seems a bit fishy. You're right it could be A. humilis as well I spaced that species, but neither reside in the Atlantic so I'm confused.

You guys are way to scientific for me.....they could have shown footage of a reef tank at Sea World and still convinced me it was legit :)

That's how I roll... I'm a stickler for accuracy especially when it comes to reefs...
