Hmm hard to tell between the eagle eyes and watermelons. I’ll try and get a better picture once they open up a bit.
I have them in a medium flow/light zone still on their frag. Any thoughts on placement for these guys? Good, bad, or ugly? They’re getting enough water movement that they heads are swaying a bit. Left side of tank, mid way up rock formation.

Either Eagle Eyes or Whamin' Watermelons. The best way I've seen to tell the difference (if there really is any) is that Watermelons have a red ring in the middle with green tentacles, and the Eagle eyes are more orange in the middle with yellow tentacles.
Either way both color morphs tend to be priced the same and are both fast growing and hardy. I think a LOT of people here had their first zoa as one of these things because they're readily available at just about every LFS, they're cheap, but they also have cool coloring for the price.

Another vote for eagle eyes. Great starter frag. With zoas I like to be very specific with placement. Eagle eyes are a fast grower and I would not keep it in the 'best location' on your rock work. You can surround the frag you have with bare frag plugs and let it grow over. Great coral to start trading with.

Great tip. I normally treat these as more of a side/edge of rockwork zoa, where they can be seen but won't take over all the prime real estate, because given a bit of time...they will. I never thought of sticking a bare plug next to them for easy frags!

I have fragged quite a few zoas and I find this method to be the easiest with no die off. Also even though unlikely to get palytoxin toxin poisoning while fragging zoas, this method I find to be the safest as well.

Great ideas, I’d have never thought of that. Letting them grown onto their own new frag plug is genius, less stressful for them during the fragging process and safer.
I never thought about the placement on the rock as the prime location, just tried to find a medium flow/medium light spot. I think I’ll try and move them down toward the sides like you suggested. Would you recommend I try and remove it from the frag plug and just glue what remains to a new location? Or should I wait a bit since it’s still fairly new.
