Zoas on egg crate

I have alot of zoas covering some egg crate. I'd like to get them off the plastic and onto some frag plugs.

Do you recommend cutting and gluing the egg crate to the plug? Or would you try to carefully remove the zoas from the egg crate and glue to the plug?

I think either would work, but if you don’t mind the egg crate showing until the zoas grow out that seems like the simplest way to me.
Once the zoas start growing on the frag plugs you can remove the egg crate if you want.
