I bought bam bam zoa and scrambled egg zoa about a week or two ago. They were doing just fine and opened up. As of the past two days they won't open up. Can someone please give me any clues as to why??

Nitrate 0 ppm
Nitrite 1ppm
Alk 180ppm
Ph 8.2
Calcium 420
Salinity 1.025
Temp 76

First pic is the Bam Bam
Second is the scrambled eggs

I did not know that it was not good at 0. How do I raise it?

And no I have not. Should I take it to my lfs to check it? I don't have anything to check the phosphate

Hmm I'm wondering if its because I just did a 30% water change on Sunday.
What does your filtration for the tank consist of? Would possible bump it down to a 10% water change weekly.

Dirty water just means you should feed more or increase nutrients another way. If you’re feeding 1x a day, then start feeding 2x a day or feed a little heavier, I think this is the easiest way. You can also begin dosing reefroids or something similar :)

It might be. I would shoot for around 10-15% water change weekly instead and see if you are able to have nitrates.

I have to dose PO4 just to have it present in my tank if that makes you feel any better.

That premium grade resin you have i believe is like GFO (or is GFO). It's made to strip out PO4. I wouldn't use it. Having 0 phosphates in a tank is not good for the overall health of the tank.

As for the bituminous carbon, that is fine. It'll help remove any toxins and smell from the tank. H

Okay ill have to change that out. But would it affect the corals of the phosphate possibly at 0?

Yes I double checked. Lol I did mix those two. Nitrites 0 and nitrates 10ppm

lol glad to hear. You're fine with that. 10 ppm is a good level.

Corals like some phosphate. Especially soft corals/zoas/lps. If you can keep it between 0.03-0.1ppm, that'd be good. Do you have a test kit for it? For the time being, just remove that pouch of resin that I said in one my previous posts.
