I really don't seen any hardware concerns, and they have been improving the software, but I suspect like all of the ultra cheap aliexpress lights, they'll wind up on Amazon in no time and the price will double or triple, making them a poor value. I personally don't like the radion style, so that does make me biased against them pretty hard. I did look at the kessil style, but just not enough power for me.
I'm suspecting it's the same software on your a8se that's on my a7. There was a fairly recent upgrade that made it way more functional, in English. I was having to use Google translate on one phone to view the one I was making the light changes on.

I bought a waterbox 120 equivalent. Likely buying the LX 300 gallon equivalent next.
By any chance do you still have the link to where you purchased from? I am trying to find their tanks but haven't been able to find them. Thanks

Gotta hunt a bit and email them. Bought a 24x24 80/20 stand through a Alibaba vendor for about 1/2 of what anyone american offered.

Alibaba not AliExpress.

Yeah I've looked on a few occasions but keeping finding the same half or dozen tanks. If I could buy a waterbox penninsula 4820 directly from the manufacturer through alibaba for half the price I'd probably order it tomorrow. Just not sure how to figure out which vendor that might be.

It won't be 'waterbox' but it will be a low iron tank with the dimensions you want for 1/2 the price or less!

You nay want tj consider if you are going $450 night as well go
$535 and get a light that arguably is in a class if it's own
$85 difference.

Oh oh ..just noticed Canadian.

Sooo to check out prices I found these 2
A8s and an " a8".
Both had no real description.
The s did say 8t has a Chinese cord but sends an adapter.

Afaict there is no difference between the s and se. EXCEPT for price.
Could be wrong but....

I caught some flicker in my eye, and it really seemed a bit too much to be shimmer. Low and behold, we have light flicker...had to set shutter speed to 1/24,000 to pick it up on camera. If it continues, I'll attempt a warranty claim.

Hmmm .. afaict all LEDs flicker when dimmed.
The own " common" pwm frequency is around 500Hz.

Since LEDs have no "quench" time (well maybe some w/ phosphor-ed types) it can be recorded or possibly seen.
At 100% it should be gone.

If intermittent well probably another issue.

Agreed. I thought it was set to be at 100%, but apparently lost in translation in the app. Lol
and the other 3 are not flickering. You can see the back on in the video has no flicker.

@oreo54 the pwm pulsing should not be even close to percievable by the human eye. I returned a Nicrew last year for the same reason, and the replacement Reefi does NOT have any indication of flicker with your eyes or a camera in any way. With the magnetic halide ballast, I could seen obvious pulsing of light with the shutter just set to auto. Just pointed at the tank, not the bulb. Haven't checked after switching to a digital ballast, but I'm sure it's much less noticeable.

To muddy things up a bit more, I've been looking hard at these SeaTorch lights on AliE. They make 4 different lights:

1. LM-12 Pro - $170 - Appears to be a pretty direct clone of a Prime HD (50w, 13 LEDs) and comes with the mount

2. LM-15 Pro - $190 - Radion XR15 clone (90w, 24 LEDs) mount is extra

3. LM-25 Pro - $250 - Radion-ish clone that falls directly between the XR15 and XR30 (150w, 38 LEDs) mount is extra

4. LM-30 Pro - $343 - Radion XR30 clone (220w, 56 LEDs) mount is extra

Even their mounts are nice, Ecotech RMS-ish looking. They're $45, though.

Also... For you Radion Blue kinda people... The "X30 Blue" seems to be the A8, only the blue version. :D
