Building with tonga toys: Have you ever used branch rock in your aquascape?

Many of the rockscapes that are seen throughout the reef hobby are comprised of base rock, ridges, arches, and other flat or boulder-shaped rocks. Branch rock, such as the pieces that came from Tonga, seemed to be more commonly used in the past, but don’t appear to be as prevalent currently (of course, maybe that is just my perspective and not reality). Have you ever used branch rock in your aquascape? If so, please share pictures. Also let us know if you have any tips or recommendations for using branch rock and how you have arranged and anchored corals to it.

It’s not much Tonga but I’ve always loved it so I made it work when I found some.

Eventually that mushroom branch will be covered and once I get all the pieces of my hammer garden together it’ll look like trees!

My local fish store had some a couple years back, of course I bought a couple of nice pieces.
This past FFM in Connecticut they had some Australian rock. Some of that had nice branches too so I picked some of that up also for the new build.

I use it to prop up ledges. It allows for excellent hiding places and flow to travel through the back wall. You have to look for it if you want to see it.

This is my school tank. Just some softies and a bta currently. The branches act as spires. Thinking to get something to encrust. Cyphastrea, sympodium, favia, zoas maybe. I've got some sympodium at home I think I can steal a little piece off of.

I’m in the process up upgrading my tank but the tank that’s up and running does have Tonga. I will be adding the existing rock into the red circle to this scape that I recently built with Tonga. I think it will fill in the space nicely.

I’ve also been hoarding Tonga whenever I can find it. I have a 300g display tank that I want to build an all Tonga branch scape.
