Can I add a Flame Angel to a reef without it eating coral or being bullied by Tangs?

I have a 5' x 2' reef tank with a large Foxface, PB, WT and Yellow Tangs, Six Line and Flame Hawk. What's the likelihood of a Flame Angel safely blending in and not eating my SPS?

Agreed on the 50/50thought. I put a coral beauty in mine, but I did so about a month before adding any corals.

I haven't found flame or coral beauty angels to be riskier than tangs, as far as eating corals.

Established powder blue and yellow tangs can be really mean, but they mostly ignore small dwarf angels. It's risky, but I would get a small flame and use an acclimation box and mirrors.

Feeding the fishes and angels well with minimized the risk of picking at your corals.

You might have to try some tricks with the tangs when it comes to adding the angel! No no box (acclimation box as most call it), decoys, mirrors, release after dark ect. Depends on how your tang gang is with new fish! Mine form a pack and terrorize new fish for a week then chill.

They’re beautiful fish but I don’t like to roll dice on turning my corals into a smorgasbord or my tank into Fight Night.

My tangs coukd care less about any fish added. Dwarf angel so different body type wise dont think they will.care.

The dwarf will nip not devour. I have a bicolor and he nips em. Polyps dont extend much but they still grow.

Doubt the tangs will care for more than a day or two if at all. Whether it will eat coral or not is a crapshoot. Some do, some don’t, some don’t then do. I’ve had an African Flameback in my mixed reef for years with two purple tangs, same size tank as you, no coral picking. That said, he glass surfs rapidly, neurotically, and nearly constantly. Beautiful fish but I don’t know if I’d risk it again. In sum, ymmv, but it could work out.

My flame only like pricy corals. Like Orange passion, homewrecker, etc. Leaves the run of the mill stuff alone.
So pretty though. Does it do real damage? Is it worth it?

I have had many flame angels in my reef tanks over the years, and never had a problem with them picking at any Coral

When i added my Flame my foxface and tang paid no attention to him. Now when i added another tang it was all out war. Mine nips every once in a while on sps but not enough to do damage.

I don’t think it’s worth getting a flame. I had one a few months ago and it was nipping at a bunch of coral. It was also really hard to get him out.
