Is that a Maxspect Gyre I see on the end? I have a pair of them and use my apex to swap them every hour to change the rotation. What speed are you running it at?

Don
Hi Don, yes it is a Gyre.
It's running at 50% and my tank is 84" long.
I need to get another for the opposite end and will do the same as you, running them with my controller.
I currently have no other powerheads on the tank. Just 4 loc-line returns.

Great re-build. The fishroom is a dream. Thx for sharing and allowing us to keep up.
Thanks! More to come. Still working in the fish room and it's much too messy for pics. :D

Hey Bro, I'm so happy for you that you finally got it all running again.
Just a few minor adjustments here and there and you back up with us big boys in Katy.
"Minor" he says. :D
Thanks, man. Lots to do but it's coming along.
Just happy to have the tank running.
Although I couldn't find my big Desjardini Tang last night. He's not in the vid, either.
I hope he is just hiding. Did great two months in holding and now 24 hours in the tank and MIA?! :( :(

That's awesome. Nice to see it back up and running!
Thanks!

Looking good man!
Thanks!

Here's a couple pics to show how the lab is coming along.
Random stuff everywhere, wires everywhere, lots of straightening up to do.
Still have plumbing to do too, like getting a feed line to the refugium.
Working on the CaRx. Placing the Co2 canister outside the fish room in the garage. And that Cole-Parmer pump will be running the reactor.
That's one of THREE Cole-Parmers I have on the way, with the other two being used for ATO and AWC.
Topping off by hand for the time being. Ugh.

The frag tank is up and running.
I have all the materials to make some frag racks, just need to find the time.
My two Perc Clowns are in there again.
Still need to net my spotted rabbitfish (aka Algae Control Specialist) from the holding tub.

It ain't pretty, but I just created my very first acrylic project... a cover for my outer overflow box. :)

I just had some scrap acrylic laying around and some weld-on 16 with no applicator so I just cut the pieces to size, poured some weld-on onto the bigger top piece and fused it to the smaller piece to create a no-slip cover. Then grabbed an old syringe from the Hanna Alk Checker and applied some more weld-on to the handle and slapped that on top. Bam! Cover complete. :D

And the hole in the top corner is for the airline on my open channel.

Also finished hooking up my CaRx complete with the Cole-Parmer dosing pump.
The pump speed is set to "2" which is giving me continuous fast drip, almost a steady stream.
It's pretty quiet at this low speed. Audible but, barely. At least with all the other noise in the fish room.

The cover looks good (as does everything else)! What model of Cole - Parmer dosing pump are you getting for your auto water change? I've been researching the available pumps for auto water changes and haven't checked any by Cole-Parmer. So far the best 2 options in my opinion have come down to the new DOS by Apex (if you have an Apex) and the Litermeter III with water exchange module

If you are interested in the CP pumps, just keep an eye on ebay. They are up there all the time and you can get some decent deals on them.
I found a 7523-30 Digital Drive for under $200 shipped. Just need to get a couple heads for it.

I used to run a LiterMeter III setup on a previous tank which worked great.
When I set this one up originally, I bought my Profilux controller which has AWC programming built in. I just had to add a couple pumps of my choice and their level sensors for the sump.
This works great but my new setup is too low to the ground and I have to deal with siphon issues with regular pumps.
And there is always the possibility that the level sensors could fail.
So I was looking for a good peristaltic pump with good flow and one that can run continuously.
Not much to choose from and not that much cheaper than a used CP, especially if it wears out and needs to be replaced.
The CP's run forever, just need to change the tubing periodically.
And they are ultra precise.

I could run two separate CP's and still utilize the level sensors, but I think what I'd rather do is run one CP with two heads and run them simultaneously.
I can run it many times per day, changing out just ounces each time, just like the LMIII does, using a timer setup in my Profilux.
Or I could run it just once or twice, changing out a few gallons each time.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll keep an eye on ebay for a good deal on a CP pump. I've been reading a little on these CP dosing pumps and they seem extremely accurate, reliable, and built very well, as you eluded to. Thanks!

So I just wanted to say....

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

And what better way to start the new year than a pic of the new tank!
Still have a few coral to get in the tank, the two big stylophora's on the left need to be trimmed way down and glued to the rock, and the sps have a lot of coloring up to do. But we're getting there.

It's just so nice to finally have the tank back up and running again.
You wouldn't believe the stress of the last couple months.

And a similar shot of the old tank from 9 months ago.
Quite a diff!

Thanks to all those that have followed along, offered advise, sent PM's, etc.
Looking forward to lots of positive stuff for 2015!

Dennis, don't know if you are still looking but check this one out...
Corrente Digital Flow Meter from Perfect Reef Systems (PRS)
I saw that!
Unfortunately it's a bit pricey and the largest they advertise there is 1.25" and I need 1.5".

looking good brother!!!! you got any frags left? id like to stop by
I'm working on it!
Going to have quite a lot, actually.
Lots of red planet, both green and purple stylo, green slimer, and maybe more.
I had a hard time keeping params stable in the tub so some sps don't look as good as they should.
I have to spend some time fragging and then letting things acclimate to an actual stable setup. haha
Today I'm working on my frag rack!!! Just picked up some more 1/2" acrylic bar. :)
