Got the light on Amazon.Maybe I over read it somewhere but did you get the mars hydro off their website or is there a eBay seller or someone else that carries them. Also are you running anything in addition to your refugiam like GFO?
Beats me. I can't see a dang thing in there.Dennis, has deritus been an issue in the refugium? If so how are you dealing with it?
Got the light on Amazon.
Just be careful if you go the ebay route. You may save 10 bucks but you also may end up with a knockoff.
I went with Amazon for the peace of mind.
I run carbon in a BRS reactor with a little GFO mixed in.
Yes, it eats up a ton of nutrients. Did on my previous system too. That's what I was afraid of too. I think I'll play it safe and go amazon route. Do you feel like the chaeto takes up most if not all of your nutrients?
I have the Core7 but still using the original Elements. I still have a lot left.Hey Dennis, are you currently running the original Triton reagents or the core7? What is your current dosage? Dosing all 4 parts?
So i just tested my PAR again just to make sure I was close to where I was before with the G3's now that the G4's have been up for a week.
I had lowered the overall intensity from 95% down to 80% and I'm still getting slightly higher numbers with the G4's.
But what is really interesting is that the PAR actually INCREASES as you go away from the center of the puck!
In other words, if I start with the par meter directly under the puck, and then move it towards the front glass, this PAR increases as it gets closer to the glass.
And this effect becomes more pronounced the farther down I go.
Up high, there is little change or the par numbers decrease like you would expect.
But as you go farther down, par increases as you go out.
Example.... around midway in the middle of the tank my par is somewhere around 250.
In the middle of the tank but close to the glass, my par is still around 250.
Closer to the sand bed, directly under a puck, my par is 220.
Closer to the sand bed and at the front glass, par is 240!
Very very interesting.
I would say that overall, with the G4's I have a more even spread of PAR across the entire tank.
Here's the before and after. And this is with lowering the overall G4 intensity slider from 95% to 80%
The blue numbers are near the sand bed at the front glass.
The yellows are as close to the center of the tank as I could get.
Straight off the meter. Are these numbers raw from the MQ-500 or have you applied the correction factor that Apogee recently released?
10pm to 6am.Haha one more question about your refugiam light. Do you run it 24/7 or opposite.
10pm to 6am.
Yessir. So your drain goes straight into the chaeto mass? Then skimmer?
10pm to 6am.
There's just no need to run it for longer. Grows enough as it is.Do you run them between these hours for electrical savings or any particular reason? I ask because I used to keep them running 24 hrs on Miracle mud with Caulerpa. Wasn't sure if there is a benefit one way or another?
