I got this guy at my LFS this weekend and I am not convinced it is a peppermint. Here is the shrimp compared to a chart posted by one of the mods. They say that the only real peppermint on the chart is Letter A and mine looks like letter c.

So is it really a peppermint or not? Thanks!

Look like a peppermint shrimp to me.

I think when they get big enough they eat small Aiptasia if the moon is right phase, the wind is blowing the right way, and they can't find anything else to eat.

You may have scored the lucky shrimp.

My two shrimp started right for the smaller Aptasia. They’ve knocked about 80% of the infestation already but hopefully they will go after the bigger ones once they explore the rest of the tank. Glad I got two for my 20 gallon but may remove them after the problem is eliminated. Worth the try

This one looks like L. boggessi. I do not know if they eat aptasia, but I had them and they do eat SPS coral (in my case they did not touch softies).

Agree and for years Peppermint sold in the industry and many only attack things in the tank. Dont know why we cant have just one type and so many reefers are misled at time/ place of purchase
