Hygger 10ft Extension cable from Amazon does not fit the the Maxspect XF330 Gyre. Darn it.

I found a place online that might have it in stock, Aquarium Specialty:

Dino Fight

I've been siphoning out the dinos. On rocks a day ago and vacuumed the sand yesterday. I'll keep doing this with also dosing some DIY coral snow laced with bacteria. I have not stopped my carbon dosing though since I still have a good spread of nutrients (PO4 at .04 and NO3 at 20ppm) -- I'm a bit worried about stopping the carbon dosing since the fish have gotten quite large and are definitely major poopers.

Next, I've researching UV filtration. And I think I'm leaning towards the Lifegard Pro-Max High Output UV Sterilizer 40 watt 3" Standard system. I found the best deal to be from @ChampionLighting (cost on their website is at $320.50 with free shipping.

It's rated for Aquariums up to 250 gallons.

And the size should fit against the wall on the right of the aquarium. Hopefully I have a stud there.

I only wish there was a list of plumbing parts I could get to get this all setup correctly. Since it's got a 3" Slip connection on both ends.

Notes:
  • Dimensions - 37.3" L x 4.51" W x 9" H
  • Input/Output Size - 3" Slip Connections
  • Power Consumption - 40 Watts
  • Max Operating Pressure - 30 PSI
  • Max Flow Rate - 2500 GPH
  • Max Flow Rate for Algae & Bacteria - 1200 GPH
  • Lamp Life (Hours) - 9000 (approx. 1 year)

What I think I need to do:
  1. Get 2x reducer bushings to from 3" to 1/2".
  2. Get 2x 1" slip to .5" barb to connect from CADE return manifold and back to aquarium
  3. .5" black vinyl tubing from BRS

Purchase list:

Spears 3" x 1/2" PVC Schedule 40 Spigot x Socket Bushing

I think I might only need to purchase this kit

Not sure. Seems only @MarineandReef Jaron carries this plumbing kit. I need to verify that it’ll work with the 40w version.

Ordered my UV setup today:

Lifegard Pro-Max High Output UV Sterilizer 40 watt 3" Standard from @ChampionLighting for $320.50 including shipping. This is a great deal.

Also picked up the Lifegard Aquatics Pro-MAX 3/4" Barb Package from @MarineandReef Jaron for $30.98 with shipping. Not bad and I’ve ordered from MarineAndReef before so good stuff there. And I won’t need to fiddle with finding the right parts.

I’m getting some loc-line and black vinyl tubing from BRS so that I can go from the UV unit directly into the display tank.

All I need now is some way to mount this thing vertically on the wall.

In the meantime I’ve added my XF330s into the display on the opposite side to get some extra flow to help with moving Dinos off rocks, etc.

Not pretty, but this really cleaned up the surface build up on this end.

Another addition to the UV install preparations, the wall mounting bracket. I don’t have space inside the CADE 1500 stand so I need to mount it externally. And I’d like to mount it vertically so I can easily change out the bulb and sleeve when needed.

I found this from printed3d.parts :

This will fit the 3.5” diameter of the Lifegard Pro-Max High Output UV Sterilizer 40 watt 3" Standard unit. And that’s great for $20.

Just posted a thread on the Nuisance Algae forum here to help me ID the organisms I captured under a microscope. They’re from the Dino slime.
