Well I know I've heard that some people have gotten to the point were leaving no nutrients in the water. To big of skimmers / reactors / socks and what have u. I'm trying to keep my tank simple. I also wanna make sure I can still keep sps though.

Yeah. My tank is too clean most of the time. I do feed well though.... I have some cyano spots showing up, it isn't due to flow for sure and not from over feeding. The only time I was ever to rid my other tank of it and HA was to vodka dose for a few months then swith to bio pellets.

Bio pellets were much easier but took a while to get established. Vodka tends to not be the whole bacterial package so to speak either. But it does rid the tank of whatever help fuels cyano and HA.

My skimmer is actually rated for 150g. But it works super well in my 180 (so far) so I'm not getting a bigger one.

Thanks for asking Joe :D

It's doing good so far. Randy told me to concentrate on the Alk 1st and bump it up slowly. So I'm doing that. My piclopora was full of polyps last night and it looks like the Bonsai may be turning around too. The blueberry fields acro has stopped receeding and I could swear I saw a hint of polyps as is the same for the millie. I also discovered my refractometer was off calibration somehow (grandkids maybe?) And SA was low too. So I've also been bring that up to 1.026. It's at 1.025 now and after the wc tonight should be where it belongs. Still haven't caught the tangs. They are eating the food previously mentioned still and will be for a couple months if I can't catch them. They're doing better but I can still see spots on them, not a lot though. The food does seem to help.

I've had several side projects going on the past couple of weeks and haven't been on R2R much. Really busy....

I took advantage of a R2R/ FB add Chris put up for blue legs and they'll be arriving tomorrow. The tank is going through the NT motions in some ways. Mainly the new LR. It's getting this algae I haven't seen before so I'm keeping an eye on it.

Asterina are little monsters! After everything I put them through they are making a return. So I guess in a month or two I'll be on the lookout for a harlequin then PIF to someone in need because I don't want to keep him.

Your adding blue legs? Mine were jerks and we're killing my snails so there now in the sump. I got a bunch of red legs cortez crabs and they play nice.

Yeah, I know. But the tiny ones are fine. I'm getting really small ones (that's what I asked for) then will move some into otger tanks or trade them into my LFS if/when they turn bad on me. I found tge Scarlett legs are the best hermits of all so far but pricy. I have 3 huge ones.

Week 2 done and today begins week 3 of Vodka dosing. The tank is clear and there's 3 days between needing to wipe the glass. I know this tank is new but I am trying to stop an algae that I don't want out of hand.

Mine went the same way. Green Coralline is the best answer I got. purple is starting to overtake it though.

I hope you're right :) and I do have coraline speckling the rock everywhere...

All the rock is in that funny ugly stage. That green, brown, rusty then pinkish hue. I am also going to have to get a harlequin. I don't want these stars eating all the good stuff. They ate all the pink coraline 1st before they even touched the rest. Then after stripping all the rock they started bothering the zoas...

I agree on the hermits. I haven't had scarlets but I hear they're somewhat gentler than some of the others. I think my bluelegs killed each other off.

This one (blueberry fields ) i have mixed thoughts about. It is growing over the previously dead area at the top. And i can see the start of polyps coming back out here and there. The base also seems to be coming back. But the center area looks worse than it was. Here are 2 pics a week apart. Advice anyone? I really loved this acro when i got it and would like to save it if i can.
